Maynard's Mine Hike
The Maynard Mine Trail is one of the more challenging trails within the Indian Canyons trail system located on the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation. The trail follows several switchbacks and stops at an elevation of 2,200 feet. It once served as the access route for a tungsten mine that operated during World War II. It begins in Andreas Canyon and climbs steadily to the top of a ridge separating Andreas and Murray Canyons, then drops over to a razorback ridge that leads to the mine. Stunning views of Palm Springs and the canyons are renewing in itself. This is trail is 6 miles long.
We will meet in Andreas Canyon at the overlook at the entrance to the canyon at 8:30.
Please bring: plenty of water, hiking boots, food, and a smile.
This trail is recommended for the intermediate hiker.
